Schloiderding V2 “Spinthing” 1.2m

The Schloiderding V2 (we are calling it Spinthing) is an elegant CNC cut balsa discus launched glider that can be built quickly, looks beautiful, and has excellent performance. The Schloiderding “Spinthing” has outstanding flying qualities and is attractive to beginners and experts alike. Thanks to the all flying tailplane the model can be trimmed to any speed range and by altering the CG and trim can be adapted to any personal flying style very quickly and easily. The excellent balsa and carbon construction allows the Spinthing to be built down to a flying weight of about 130 g, thanks to the superb hand picked balsa supplied.

The structure, except for the carbon tail tube, is completely built from wood, and so is very easy to repair. When building the front and rear parts of the wing have to be carved from the supplied balsa parts. To assist in this a clever sanding aid is included in the kit. With this tool sanding the surface to shape is very easy and fast and not at all problematic.

The kit is supplied with the option to build to three different wing spans:

– 100 cm (39″) for highest launches and lively handling. This is ideal for slope soaring, especially if the dihedral is reduced or even eliminated.

– 105 cm (41″) the standard compromise between snappy handling, high launch and top performance.

– 120 cm (47″) for maximum all out and thermal performance (our favourite).

All parts are included in the kit including pull-spring control runs and an excellent plan with all 3 possible wing layouts. The span is determined by shortening the wing front and rear parts by removing material on the inner side (from the centre). Covering (Oralight), glue, etc is needed to build the model.
